Stanton Millworks Earns Eagle Award for Lindner Family Tennis Center
Stanton Millworks has been recognized with an Eagle Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors Ohio Valley Chapter in the Specialty Contractor: Interior category for our work on the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
The Eagle Award recognizes projects that demonstrate excellence in craftsmanship, coordination, and execution. Stanton’s work stood out for delivering high-end architectural millwork at scale, under an accelerated timeline tied to the Cincinnati Open.
Project Spotlight: Lindner Family Tennis Center
As part of a major expansion supporting the Cincinnati Open, the Lindner Family Tennis Center was transformed into a premier international sports venue, doubling its footprint and introducing multiple new facilities.
Stanton Millworks was selected to deliver more than $5.3M in architectural millwork across three primary buildings, including a new clubhouse, luxury suites, player facilities, pro shops, and an operations building. This was not a single-space buildout. It was a coordinated, campus-wide effort requiring precision fabrication and installation across active areas with overlapping trades and tight sequencing.
Scope highlights included:
- Custom architectural millwork across multiple new and renovated facilities
- Integration of wood, stone, metal, and specialty finishes across high-end spaces
- Complex installations within a commercial expo kitchen environment
- Phased installation aligned with overall construction sequencing
- Use of advanced laser templating and Leica 3D measurement technology to maintain precision
An Unmovable Timeline, Met Through Proactive Problem Solving
The defining challenge on this project was the schedule. From contract execution to final installation, Stanton had less than six months to complete design coordination, fabrication, and installation before the start of the 2025 Cincinnati Open. The tournament created a fixed, immovable deadline, which meant potential challenges had to be identified and solved before they could impact progress.
That proactive approach started in preconstruction. The team identified materials with long lead times that would not align with the schedule and worked with the design team to source alternatives that maintained both performance and design intent.
In the field, execution required the same level of foresight and adaptability. The team:
- Implemented phased installation across multiple buildings
- Coordinated daily with trades including framing, drywall, HVAC, and specialty equipment
- Held pre-phase planning meetings to align sequencing, access, and material delivery
- Adjusted in real time to field conditions and site constraints
Crews also navigated complex logistical challenges, including tight access conditions and integrating millwork within highly coordinated spaces like the commercial expo kitchen, where millwork needed to align precisely with equipment, mechanical systems, and surrounding trades.
Rather than slowing progress, the team worked through these constraints in real time through fabrication strategy, sequencing, and constant coordination across the project team. The result was a project that maintained momentum from start to finish, delivering high-end custom millwork across a large, active jobsite without missing the tournament deadline.
Precision Through Technology and Craft
Maintaining quality at this scale and speed required more than coordination. It required a combination of advanced technology and experienced craftspeople. The team used laser templating and Leica 3D measurement tools to capture real-time field conditions and ensure fabricated components aligned exactly during installation. Fabrication combined digital modeling with CNC production, allowing the team to produce complex custom elements while adjusting to field conditions as they evolved.
Just as important was how the team approached fabrication. Components were often engineered in the shop with installation in mind, breaking down large elements into manageable pieces that could be transported and assembled on site without compromising the finished product.
What This Award Represents
The Lindner Family Tennis Center project demonstrates what sets Stanton Millworks apart:
- The ability to execute high-end architectural millwork at scale
- Precision fabrication and installation under an aggressive, fixed deadline
- Proactive problem solving during preconstruction and in the field
- Collaboration across a large, multi-trade jobsite
Delivered in just six months, the project reflects the level of craftsmanship, technology, collaboration, and problem solving required to support a world-class venue.
Craftsperson of the Year Nominee: Patrick Brown
Stanton Millworks also had Patrick Brown nominated for Craftsperson of the Year.
Patrick approaches each build with a full process mindset, thinking through how pieces will be handled, installed, and experienced in the field before fabrication even begins.
He also plays a key role in mentoring younger craftsmen, sharing his knowledge and setting the standard for quality in the shop, taking pride in ensuring every piece meets expectations before it leaves the facility. His leadership and consistency have made him a trusted presence on the team for over two decades.
